SHIN GUARDS

There are two main types of shin guards and which one you choose is based on player preference.

  1. Slip-Ins: These guards, as the name says, slip-in right underneath your socks. Slip-ins do not have any type of straps or ankle guards attached and are typically worn by players who like something lighter, less bulky, and easier to get on and off. This type of guard is usually held in place by compression sleeves (under sock), shin straps (over sock), or electric tape (over sock).

  2. Traditional: Traditional guards have straps and an extra piece at the bottom to protect the ankle from being kicked. The ankle guard is fitted with a stirrup that goes underneath the foot to help keep everything in place. Traditional guards are typically worn by younger players, players who prefer extra coverage and protection, and players recovering from an ankle or lower leg injury.
